Today, we’ve got something a little different and rather special for you! ‘2 Spirits’ is the brand new release from Cincinnati-based recording artist and mixing/mastering engineer BlckDino. Joining him are his childhood friends, drummer Lil Chip, and recording artist YoungGraffiti. The track itself features a smooth, soulful, and chilled out beat that is expertly laid down and serves as the perfect vehicle for the spoken-word lyrical prowess of the three talented musicians.
‘2 Spirits’ addresses issues that everyone can relate to – the human desire of needing to be loved, and the search for a perfect partner to complete you. Lyrically, the tune was actually created from old, spoken-word pieces that the three had created years ago, and recently stumbled across again. All we can say is that, since the very first time we heard ‘2 Spirits’ at Indie Top 39, we haven’t been able to stop listening!

What does the song mean to you?
This song is based on the concept of finding a soulmate or a romantic partner who truly completes you. The two spirits are symbolic of the souls of each person in the relationship. Each verse in this song is from the perspective of someone who has loved and been loved, but each one varies. Love is not consistent among each person. Starting off with Lil Chip’s desire to be validated and unconditionally loved by a partner. Then moving on to YoungGraffiti’s dream of having a best friend with whom he shares his most tender moments. Finally ending on my desire to have a partner who pushes me to succeed while being there for my lowest moments.
Who do you hope the song resonates with the most?
Anyone on a journey to find themselves. Love, romance, dating, etc. is a lot of trial and error. I personally believe that you need to become self-aware before you can truly love someone unconditionally.
What do you hope to achieve with this song?
In the outro, I spoke about how difficult my journey with music has been. It’s very hard to stay motivated when it feels like nobody hears your work or notices your growth. Recently, I have grown, and overcome my anxiety and other obstacles. I want this song to reach more people to show them that I am serious about music and to have an impact on an audience on a personal level. I really just want to build connections.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?

Then preached as teens
Now we speak our truths to influence a new wave to fix our past
A vicious cycle of unintended abuse”
These lyrics are special to me because they convey how love has been misconstrued by the mistakes of previous generations. We were taught as children that love comes with sacrifice, but some sacrifice far too much.
