‘Final Show’ is the brand new single from Nashville-based indie-rocker Paul Vinson, a musician who we’ve been following closely for a while now. Telling the story of falling for his partner while she was involved with someone else, Vinson pieces their romance together verse by verse in the most infectious and foot-tap-inducing way. The chorus is as upbeat and colourful as one could possibly wish for, as the musician lets loose with his signature rich and heartfelt vocal performance.
“Let’s give them a show, give them a run for their money”. He sings. “Let’s give them a night that they won’t forget”. The genius of ‘Final Show’ is that Vinson has managed to perfectly bottle up those feelings of excitement and euphoria that occur when you meet someone and it’s just different. We at Indie Top 39 are just glad that he decided to share that bottle with us. And we’re proud to share it with you.
‘Final Show’ is another superb example of Vinson’s sincere and wholehearted songwriting prowess!

What does the song mean to you?
The song is an energetic slightly tumultuous love song about falling for my partner while they were with someone else. It embodies that excitement felt when you meet someone and know it’s something bigger than you.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be.
I often write and edit songs in the same sitting – recording voice memos on my iPhone, adding a little at a time, and singing those lines over and over until each little word falls into place. That process was used for this song. I made 7 or 8 voice memos over the course of a couple of days. Each memo contains a different bit of the song continually being refined until I write down the lyrics, fine-tune them again, and finally make them into one full memo demo.
From there it becomes a scratch track of vocals and guitar recorded to a click that gets brought to my producer Bryce Dubray and the band. Then we turn it into a demo, then live tracking and hours of overdubs, before being sent off for mixing and mastering.
What are your favourite lyrics in the song?
“We took the subway it looked a lot like my car” Something about this lyric is so silly but so true to the story. There are no subways in Nashville. There’s practically no public transportation at all. These lyrics romanticize the idea of falling for someone and riding the subway or a train to anywhere and potentially nowhere and for me that image captures the emotion I felt on our ride home. All the while in reality we were just in my shitty little car.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
This past year has been huge for me in music. I’ll be releasing my first full-length album in September which is a goal I’ve always wanted to achieve. For the first time in my life as an artist, I feel like I’ve made a project that I love every inch of. A project that is a pure representation of Paul Vinson. So for the next year, I plan to release this album and continue promoting it and growing my fan base. I’ll be playing shows in Nashville once a month and touring the states as much as possible.
