Today, we have something a little crunchy for you to sink your teeth into! ‘Black and Blue’ is the brand new single from Scottish-based three-piece PAGES.. It’s their second official single, and serves as the follow-up to their previous hit ‘Bubble Brain’. It’s definitely more rocky and gritty when compared to ‘Bubble Brain’, and showcases the bands musical intent going forward – infectious guitar riffs, smooth bass lines, thumping drums, and a sprinkling of synths thrown in for good measure! Produced by Joseph Schmidt and unashamedly influenced by the likes of Royal Blood, Muse, and Mini Mansions, the band have produced an absolute blinder in the form of ‘Black and Blue’. It’s intense, it’s full-on, and it holds your attention whether you want it to or not! PAGES. are gaining some serious momentum at the moment, and we at Indie Top 39 get the feeling you’ll be hearing a lot more from them in the near future.
‘Black and Blue’ is a smashing tune! Gritty, bold, and seriously catchy. We’re loving PAGES. right now! INDIE TOP 39
What does the song mean to you?
A new beginning and direction for the band.
Tell us about your creative process and how the song came to be?
The song first came around when our singer Matt had been playing around with a guitar riff he had come up with. That guitar riff became the main hook of the song. Ali (lead guitarist) and I (Jack) then had our input and the rest was built from there.
What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months with your music?
We want to release more material in the next 12 months and definitely play a lot of gigs. We haven’t had the opportunity to do so for a very long time. I know the three of us are itching to get back out there.
Which Netflix series or movie would you like your music to be featured in?
I think the song would probably fit nicely in some sort of dark crime Netflix show or movie, I think the song has a haunting feel to it.
