Hello Indie Top 39 family! It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that this will be the last New Music Sunday I will write. I have loved my time writing for Indie Top 39, and know that they are going to continue providing you with the absolute best music. And remember, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end”!
Bregn » Dreaming
One of a kind doesn’t begin to describe the beauty of ‘Dreaming’INDIE TOP 39
Atmospheric yet powerful vocals greet you on ‘Dreaming’, the latest track by the Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bregn. When the delicate instrumental enters the texture expands without losing that core energy set right away. Beautiful and relaxed, I loved how well the different sounds blended and complemented one another. Cool layered vocals deepen and change the songs color, while somehow blending almost seamlessly in with the instrumental around them. Supported by the ever-evolving instrumental there wasn’t a single note that felt out of place on. Playful guitars complemented the vocals and helped give the song its optimistic and easy-going energy.
Chris Hart » Are You There?
Catchy, exciting, and bound to stay stuck in your head for hours, Chris Hart sounds phenomenal on ‘Are You There?’INDIE TOP 39
Chris Hart’s newest song, ‘Are You There’ immediately sounds like summer. Playful guitars sound phenomenal next to the fun vocals. By the time the chorus comes around, everything seems to lock together and the grove stands out. My absolute favorite part of this cool new release was how authentic everything felt. Vocals were passionate and matched the energy of the instrumental perfectly. Not only was ‘Are You There’ catchy, but a song that pulls you out of your seat onto the dance floor. Everything from the tasteful guitar solo to the reliable drum groove blended together seamlessly, resulting in this awesome song.
David Unlayao » If We Ever Break Up
David Unlayao will have you in your feelings with his latest release, ‘If We Ever Break Up’INDIE TOP 39
‘If We Ever Break Up’ is the latest release from the Nashville-based singer/songwriter David Unlayao. Power defines every aspect of this song, making it absolutely perfect for driving or working out. Unlayao’s strong vocals push the song through its peaks while the rock rhythm section (plus banjo…?) supports every movement. An awesome song not only because of the cool groove, but because of how it makes you feel. Even on my first listen it felt familiar and vigorous. The way the vulnerable lyricism complemented the raw strength of it all sent chills down my spine. As beautiful as it was enjoyable.
Floya » Wonders
‘Wonders’ is as unique as it was powerfulINDIE TOP 39
Floya’s awesome new track ‘Wonders’ will have you entranced and wanting more. Nostalgic synths support the intricate vocal melodies beautifully. The dedicated instrumental helped keep the energy high without pulling attention from the lead vocals. Both powerful and expressive, the vocals defined the band’s sound without overshadowing the rhythm section. Instead, every different voice melded into the song’s texture, seamlessly bolstering the listening experience. Pinpointing my favorite parts of ‘Wonders’ is like choosing your favorite ingredient in cakes – the minute you break it down you’ve already destroyed the best part. When everything locks in, the sound takes a whole new color and really shines.
Jessy » Just As You Are
‘Just As You Are’ is simply chillingINDIE TOP 39
Jessy, the singer songwriter based out of the United Kingdom, sounds gorgeous on her latest release, ‘Just As You Are’. Beautiful vocals pair with gentle lyricism effortlessly resulting in a powerful song that is as rich and full as it is gorgeous. Whether acapella, supported by the easy-going piano, or the colorful backing vocals, every last melody was harrowing. Although the texture never thickened beyond those few voices, the presence was huge. Harmonies would ring out ethereally covering my body in goose bumps. A wonderfully written song that showcases Jessy’s tender vocals as well as the eloquent piano lines perfectly.

JEWLS » All I Want
Emotional delivery on ‘All I Want’ defines the songs gentle atmosphere.INDIE TOP 39
‘All I Want’ is the type of song to hush a room. By the time it fades into silence you’ll realize you’ve been paying attention to nothing except the beautiful vocals and delicate instrumental. Through its soaring peaks and cavernous valleys JEWLS singing stays consistently enchanting. Akin to powerhouse artists like Lorde or Lana Del Rey, her voice commands attention while still being delicate and expressive. The light supporting instruments drift along to support every last syllable. Gentle vocals feel as if they’re floating over top effortlessly. Whether they were quietly reciting poetry or powerfully delivering the chorus they set the songs tone beautifully.
Lone Lake » Stop The Time
‘Stop The Time’ is perfect for literally any situationINDIE TOP 39
‘Stop The Time’ is groovy, cool and beautiful. Austin-based duo Lone Lake did a fantastic job pairing LoFi and indie vibes. Not only was it unique, but familiar and beautiful as well. Led by the gentle vocals, the energy was light yet full and interesting. Their delicacy is thanks largely to the busy yet supportive instrumental. Not a moment went by where there wasn’t something new and interesting happening either in the lead vocals or the evolving texture behind them. Whether it’s the modern drum kit or the lovely, atmospheric synthesizers they helped bring out all the best elements of the vocals.
