Pacific K & INGAJA » Bullet
The ambient yet busy texture of ‘Bullet’ will leave a sweet taste on your palette.
INDIE TOP 39
‘Bullet’ the newest song from the Latvian indie outlet Pacific K and Lithuanian singer/songwriter INGAJA is cool and atmospheric. Long flowing melodies adorn the busy yet ambient texture. Always powerful and always gorgeous, the vocals led the energy through the song’s different moods. Whenever the instrumental would shine through the texture it further cemented the song’s power and loveliness. Whether the rhythmic guitar lines or the gentle drum kit and percussion, each voice danced around the harrowing vocal lines. Poetic lyrics fit the mood and help make the chorus as memorable as it is. From the moment both vocalists harmonize for the first time to the last synthesizer line, there’s never a dull moment.

Jidé Kuti » You’re Not That Special
Catchy and fun, ‘You’re Not That Special’ is a treat
INDIE TOP 39
‘You’re Not That Special’ by North London-based Jidé Kuti is the type of song that makes you feel warm and joyful immediately. Contrasting the ruthless lyricism perfectly, the light easy-going vibe is guaranteed to put you in a good mood and make your day better. Playful vocals show off Kuti’s personality phenomenally while still refusing to mince words or energy. Larisa » Temporary
Delicate and easy-going, the delivery on ‘Temporary’ is sweet as honey.
INDIE TOP 39
Elegant piano sets the tone on London-based singer/songwriter Larisa’s song ‘Temporary’. Released in anticipation of her first EP by the same name, it’s lovely. As easy to listen to as it is pretty there’s never a moment that loses that elegance. Between the powerful, yet emotion-soaked lyrics and the instrumental that supports every push and pull the texture is chilling. Not only was the song beautiful, the video it was released alongside is artistic and cool while still fitting the mood awesomely. ‘Temporary’ sets the bar for Larisa’s upcoming EP incredibly high, and we here at Indie Top 39 can’t wait to listen.

Tasmin Rhea » Mind On Fire
At points bouncy, at others flowing – ‘Mind On Fire’ is impossible to define
INDIE TOP 39
From the get-go the ambient instrumental on Tasmin Rhea’s newest song, ‘Mind On Fire’ is delicate and unprecedented. This vibe quickly morphs into a bouncy groove completely unlike the energy set initially. While the versatile instrumental sets the cool mood, fun and adaptable vocals float over top. No matter what was happening behind them they effortlessly matched and enhanced the texture. Sometimes leaning into the effervescent energy, while at others finding comfort in the open soundscape. One of the coolest parts was how each individual voice twisted and redefined the songs sound. There was never anything that sounded out of place or weird. Instead they all blended easily into one another resulting in this beautiful, unique song.

Ysabel Bain » Harmonics
Aptly named, Ysabel Bain’s newest song, ‘Harmonics’ is lush and beautiful
INDIE TOP 39
On her newest release, ‘Harmonics’, Ysabel Bain explores a rich soundscape with delicate ease. Her vocals meld into the hollow chords seamlessly. At points it feels like time slows down and freezes with each note, resulting in goosebumps up and down your arms. When the vocals first enter they contrast the repetitive instrumental phenomenally. Emotional and passionate, despite the thin texture there’s an underlying intensity beckoning the song forwards. A seriously cool song that gains its energy from the myriad of different voices instead of one in particular. It will make you think as well as feel, a sign of a truly awesome release.
