I guess I’m feeling a little bit reflective, but I’m just so thankful that I get to listen to and review great music on a daily basis. It’s kind of what I always wanted to do if I’m being honest! But enough about me. We have more incredible new tracks for you this week that we’re super proud to be bringing you, so without further ado, please enjoy this week’s selection and, as always, have a lovely week!
LIWU K » Paralysed
Haunting, cinematic, and profoundly honest, ‘Paralysed’ is a special gem!
INDIE TOP 39
UK-based alternative-pop artist LIWU K is onto something quite sonically special! Her brand new release, ‘Paralysed’, is truly one of the most haunting, beautiful, and unique tunes that we at Indie Top 39 have heard so far this year. With an eclectic range of influences, from Billie Eilish to Hans Zimmer, LIWU K has transformed her love for cinematic scores into her own dark and distinctive soundscape that just sets her apart from the rest. Bravely exploring her personal experience with sleep paralysis, ‘Paralysed’ is as honest and as heartfelt a tune as you could ever hope to hear.

Baudelaire » Lethe
‘Lethe’ is a gritty, gloomy, and anthemic tune that’s too good to ignore!
INDIE TOP 39
Wolverhampton-based post-punk act Baudelaire have just unleashed the follow-up to ‘Prayers’ in the form of ‘Lethe’, a gritty, raw, and eerily dark single that is just too unique and gripping to ignore. Baudelaire blend elements of industrial and new-wave sounds with their own special concoction to produce a soundscape that is loud, in-your-face, and as energetic as their chaotic live shows have become famous for. Working alongside legendary producer Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Paolo Nutini, Robert Plant), and drawing on inspiration from their native Black Country surroundings, the band have delivered another cracking tune that we at Indie Top 39 feel deserves to be heard!

Connor Desai » Some Time Ago
Unfiltered and deeply emotive, ‘Some Time Ago’ is truly beautiful!
INDIE TOP 39
‘Some Time Ago’ is the beautifully sweet and soul-stirring new tune from Seattle-based singer/songwriter and indie-pop artist Connor Desai. Recorded live with longtime collaborator Chris White, ‘Some Time Ago’ is a moving and emotive little song that allows for Desai’s vulnerable yet unflinching vocals to shine bright. Reflecting on the juxtapositions and restraints of female sexuality, Desai weaves a bold and brave lyrical tale that we at Indie Top 39 have fallen rather hard for. Her sound has been compared to the likes of Brandi Carlile, Jenny Lewis, and Norah Jones, and that’s pretty good company to be in if you ask us!

Excuse Me. » The Miser
‘The Miser’ is an irresistibly catchy and profoundly honest song that we just love!
INDIE TOP 39
Excuse Me. are a five-piece alternative-rock act hailing from Ontario, Canada. Having formed in 2017, they’re certainly no newcomers to the scene, but on their brand new release ‘The Miser’, the band believe that they’ve found the winning formula. And we at Indie Top 39 find it hard to disagree! The tune wonderfully juxtaposes dark, introspective lyrical content with an infectious and sunny sound, making it virtually impossible to not bop your head along to the song. With an arsenal of new material in their back pocket, we simply can’t wait to hear what Excuse Me. offer up next!

Michy Tree » SIKE!
‘SIKE!’ is an all-out, no holds barred banger to sing (or scream) along with!
INDIE TOP 39
Nearly a year after releasing ‘The Wire’, Berkshire-based punk rocker Michy Tree makes her blistering return with the no holds barred banger ‘SIKE!’ Described by the artist as, “a classic sassy breakup song’, ‘SIKE!’ sees Tree at her unrestrained, rampant, and fiery best. Dirty guitar work, thumping drums, pounding bass, and the penetrating vocals of Tree are the order of the day here, and at just over two minutes long, dynamite truly does come in small packages sometimes. Influenced by the likes of Halsey, Paramore, and The 1975, we at Indie Top 39 can’t wait to hear what Michy Tree gets up to next!

The River » Tick Tock
‘Tick Tock’ is an innovative and euphoric tune that is simply exceptional!
INDIE TOP 39
‘Tick Tock’ is the euphoric and sultry new single from Colorado-based alternative-R&B artist The River, and it’ll take you on a sonic journey that you won’t want to end anytime soon. I’m not going to lie, it’s a tough tune to “put a label on”, but as you know by now, that’s just what we love at Indie Top 39! Experimental, original, and innovative, ‘Tick Tock’ is just an absolutely brilliant track from start to finish. Drawing on influence from Qveen Herby and the late Amy Winehouse, The River is undoubtedly here to stay, and we couldn’t be happier!
