Some are from old friends, and some are from brand new ones, so please enjoy this week’s selection and, as always, have a lovely week!
Drew Thomas » San Francisco
A soaring and heartfelt tune, ‘San Francisco’ is an absolute winner!INDIE TOP 39
‘San Francisco’ is the brand new single from the ridiculously talented London-based singer/songwriter Drew Thomas, and it’s one of the most heartfelt and nostalgia-laced tunes that we’ve heard so far this year! Drew’s warm and passionate vocals instantly draw you in, and he then smoothly builds up a classic piano ballad into a full-on, stadium-ready, rock tune. Drawing on inspiration from bands like The Killers, Radiohead, and Bon Iver, Drew has come up with a sound that people are seriously beginning to take notice of. We at Indie Top 39 feel this is fully deserved, and can’t wait to hear what he does next!
Eleri Ward » Perfect
‘Perfect’ is an infectious and upbeat little tune that we can’t get enough of at the moment!INDIE TOP 39
“Perfect is boring so why do I want it so bad?” This is the question that New York-based singer, actor, and musician Eleri Ward beautifully ponders on her spellbinding new single ‘Perfect’. An upbeat and quirky number, ‘Perfect’ sees Ward sending out a message of liberation. Of freeing ourselves from self-judgement and self-limitation. And she does this in the catchiest, most infectious way! Blending a myriad of musical elements to create her unique soundscape, Ward truly sounds like nobody that we at Indie Top 39 heard before. And we mean that in the most sincere, admiring, and complimentary way.
Greg Bounce » Thank U
Light and airy, uplifting and hypnotic, allow ‘Thank U’ to take you on a sonic rollercoaster!INDIE TOP 39
Lisbon-based indie-electronica master Greg Bounce just released his brand new single called ‘Thank U’, but to be honest, we feel like we should be the ones thanking him. Described as his most euphoric release to date, ‘Thank U’ is an uplifting, airy, and celebratory tune that sees Bounce focusing on and giving thanks for the good times in a relationship, rather than dwelling on its ending. Sonically, the track builds up slowly and perfectly, with rich synth layers, hypnotic bass, and the breezy vocals of the main man himself. It’s truly another cracking song from Bounce that we at Indie Top 39 just can’t get enough of!
Jacob Rountree » Vertigo
Captivating, intricate, and wonderfully dynamic, ‘Vertigo’ is just beautiful!INDIE TOP 39
Jacob Rountree is a Montana-based singer/songwriter and an alternative folk group that just released an entrancing and captivating new single called ‘Vertigo’. It’s a laid-back, mellow, and relaxing tune that has been beautifully and intricately pieced together, allowing for Rountree’s truly magical vocals to take front and centre. The very first word that comes to mind after a few listens to ‘Vertigo’ is multi-dimensional. There’s just so much going on sonically that it’s simply impossible to not be intrigued and impressed at the same time. We at Indie Top 39 have no doubt you’ll be hearing more from Jacob Rountree very soon!
Jesabel » This Small Town
A beautiful blend of genres and styles, ‘This Small Town’ is a fresh and original hit!INDIE TOP 39
Florida-based singer/songwriter and alternative country songstress Jesabel has just dropped ‘This Small Town’, and it’s a uniquely special blend of country storytelling mixed with a little Americana and pop-folk instrumentation. You kind of just have to hear it for yourself if we’re being honest! But that’s what makes it so special! The musician looks inside herself for lyrical inspiration and draws on real-life experiences of growing up in a small town and being desperate to leave, only to then be desperate to return. A wonderful storyteller and gifted artist, we at Indie Top 39 are falling pretty hard for Jesabel right now!
Morisse Monty » Nishida
‘Nishida’ is a unique, eclectic, and irresistibly catchy track that we’ve had on repeat since its release!INDIE TOP 39
Jussi De Nys is a Belgium-based multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer who is better known by his musical alias Morisse Monty. He’s just released ‘Nishida’, an eclectic, upbeat, psychedelic-pop tune that we at Indie Top 39 found too interesting and irresistible to ignore! Now the hard part – how to describe ‘Nishida’. It’s a little fuzzy and hazy, it’s definitely upbeat and funky, and there’s a soulful warmth in it that’s hard to describe but is undeniably felt. Influenced by a glorious range of acts – Steely Dan, The Beatles, and Frank Zappa to name a few – we can’t wait to hear what this talented musician has up his sleeve next!
